Popular human rights activist and founder of the Safe City Volunteer Foundation, Harrison Gwamnishu, has publicly accused some police officers of diverting ransom funds that were meant to be returned to victims of kidnapping. In a strongly worded statement shared on Instagram, Gwamnishu stated that despite his tireless work to ensure that kidnapping victims either get their money back or that their abductors face justice, some of the police officers he had collaborated with recently displayed greed and corruption. He explained that funds he helped recover for victims had been diverted, and the officers were tendering amounts far below what was originally recovered.
