Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has received members of the City Boy Movement, a coalition of young professionals, entrepreneurs, and grassroots mobilisers supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The governor disclosed this in a post shared on his verified Instagram page, @pnmbah, noting that the delegation was led by the South East Coordinator of the movement, businessman Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana.
According to Mbah, discussions during the meeting focused on the place of Ndi Igbo in Nigeria’s political architecture and the need for the South East to return to the strategic politics that once defined the region’s leadership approach.
He noted that historically, Ndi Igbo had never played politics driven by sentiment, adding that the region’s forebears understood the importance of building strategic alliances and maintaining relationships across the Niger whenever necessary.
The governor, however, observed that in recent years the South East had experienced significant political fragmentation and a growing disconnection from the centre, a situation he said had limited the region’s presence where critical national decisions were made.
Mbah stressed that strategic politics requires realism, objectivity, and a clear understanding of the national political landscape, urging leaders and stakeholders from the region to engage analytically and position themselves where decisions about Nigeria’s future are taken.
He added that the path forward for the South East is to reconnect, build alliances, and return fully to the centre of national decision-making.
