Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has called on Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, to urgently address the lack of pipe-borne water affecting residents of Onitsha.
The appeal was shared on her official Instagram page, @ritaedochie, where the actress lamented that the pipe-borne water supply residents enjoyed during the last campaign period has stopped running, forcing many households to return to relying on borehole suppliers. She questioned whether campaign promises had faded, noting that taps across the city have remained dry.
Rita Edochie stated that many residents are facing hardship due to the absence of steady electricity and clean running water, describing both as essential services required for daily living. According to her, findings suggest that only minor efforts may be needed for the water system to function again, adding that the issue has allegedly been brought to the attention of the authorities.
Speaking on behalf of residents of Onitsha, the actress pleaded with Governor Soludo to restore the water supply and improve living conditions in the area. She emphasised that residents remain hopeful that the taps will run again despite the ongoing challenges.
She also encouraged residents to remain patient and prayerful while awaiting government intervention.
