My Capacity Is Ten Times Greater Than When I Was Governor” Umahi Urges Unity, Dismisses ‘Noise Makers’ in Ngbo

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has called on youths and residents of his home community of Ngbo in Ebonyi State to remain united and focused on development, urging them to ignore what he described as “noise makers.”

Umahi made the remarks during an interaction with community members, where he reassured them of his continued commitment to the progress and wellbeing of Ngbo, despite now serving at the federal level.

Addressing the gathering, the former Ebonyi State governor urged the people to see him as one of their own and not be distracted by dissenting voices. “You must accept me as one of your own. Don’t listen to noise makers. My capacity is like ten times when I was governor,” he said.

Umahi also highlighted the increased influence and authority that comes with his current position as Minister of Works, stressing his determination to deliver tangible benefits to his community. “I’m very, very dangerous now. Let nobody fall on me because the cost is very dangerous,” he stated, a comment that drew applause from those present.

Throughout the interaction, Umahi repeatedly engaged the audience by asking, “Nnoo nu o?” an Igbo expression meaning “Are you there?” to keep them attentive and involved in the discussion.

He emphasized the importance of unity among the people of Ngbo, calling on prominent sons and daughters of the community to put aside differences and work together for collective development. According to him, unity would make it easier to attract meaningful projects and interventions.

“We have the capacity to do good things for the Ngbo people. Come together. Tell your sons and daughters very illustrious and industrious to come together. Let them approach me. Whatever is their need, they will have it done,” Umahi said.

The minister also spoke about the role of his family in supporting community development, noting that they are financially capable of contributing to major projects. He said the Umahi family has been greatly blessed and remains willing to support communal initiatives whenever called upon.

“If you ask them to contribute, they will contribute, and they will over-contribute,” he added.

Umahi concluded by reaffirming his dedication to using his current office and personal resources to advance the development of Ngbo and Ebonyi State at large.
