Nollywood filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has announced a historic global box office milestone for her movie Behind The Scenes.

The update was shared on Instagram via her verified page, @funkejenifaakindele, where she expressed gratitude to fans across different regions for the overwhelming support shown to the film.

According to figures posted on her page, Behind The Scenes grossed $190,249 in North America, making it the biggest Nollywood release ever in the region. In Canada, the movie recorded an impressive $111,256 during its opening weekend, emerging as the highest-grossing Nollywood release in Canada.

The success extended to West Africa, where the film grossed a massive ₦2.28 billion, earning the title of the highest-grossing movie of all time in the region.

Reacting to the achievement, Akindele thanked audiences in Canada for making the opening weekend unforgettable and appreciated fans in the United States for their strong turnout and embrace of the film.

She also expressed heartfelt appreciation to supporters in Nigeria and Ghana, referring to them as her “FANmily”, and acknowledged their unwavering loyalty and encouragement throughout her journey.

Funke Akindele noted that while hard work, consistency, and growth are important, she believes the success of Behind The Scenes is ultimately due to God’s mercy and the continuous love of her fans worldwide.
