Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has confirmed on her Instagram page that she has been officially served a ₦200 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio over her previous allegations of sexual harassment.
In a statement posted on her Instagram, the Kogi Central senator said she welcomes the development, describing it as an opportunity to finally present her evidence after the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges allegedly denied her an audience. She noted that the committee claimed it could not revisit the matter because Akpabio’s wife had earlier filed a related defamation case.
Akpoti-Uduaghan explained that Senate rules required her to first report the issue to the Ethics Committee before approaching the courts — the same committee that later recommended what she termed her illegal suspension.
She stated that Akpabio’s lawsuit now gives her the platform to lay out evidence of alleged sexual harassment and what she described as sustained attacks that followed her refusal to comply with his demands.
She also posted a certified true copy of the court documents on her page, showing the case filed at the High Court of Justice, Abuja, with a new hearing date fixed for January 21, 2026.
Ending her message with a firm stance, she wrote: “See you in court, Godswill Akpabio.”
