Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington has expressed concern over the rising cost of goods in Nigeria after sharing her frustration in a series of posts on her official Instagram page, @adesuaetomi.
Etomi revealed that she recently came across a wig priced at £5,000, a discovery that left her completely shocked. Questioning the situation, she wrote, “I saw a wig for £5,000 today. Kilonshele gan gan?” The Yoruba phrase “Kilonshele gan gan?” means “What exactly is happening?” or “What is really going on?”, emphasising her disbelief at the price and the growing cost of personal items.
In another part of her post, the actress expressed her confusion over the economic realities in the country, writing, “In this Nigeria, oh, I’m just trying to understand why.” —a sentiment that mirrors the frustrations of many Nigerians facing daily increases in prices.
Her comments have sparked widespread reactions online, with many people echoing similar concerns about inflation, rising exchange rates, and the financial pressure affecting everyday purchases, from essential goods to fashion and beauty products.
