Nigerian activist and public figure Uba Sandra Chisom, a widow, has shared a deeply emotional reflection on grief, kindness, and gradual healing during the Christmas season.
Chisom made this known in a post shared on her verified Instagram page, @the_victorious_chisom, where she opened up about her continued struggle with Christmas since the death of her husband in December 2022. According to her, the festive season has never been the same, as the joy, laughter, excitement, and meaning she once associated with Christmas disappeared with her late husband.
The widow revealed that this year marked the third consecutive Christmas she has not celebrated, noting that she felt completely uninterested in the season. However, her mood shifted when her rider called to inform her that someone had sent something for her. She admitted that she paused in disbelief, as she was not expecting anything.
She further explained that the sender, a woman who preferred to remain anonymous, extended the kind gesture to both her and her children. The unexpected act of generosity deeply moved her and served as a reminder that even in her pain, she and her children are still seen and remembered.
Reflecting on the moment, Chisom said the gesture made her consider breaking free from the emotional weight she has carried, not because the pain is gone, but for the sake of her innocent twins, whom she believes deserve joy despite her ongoing healing process.
She concluded by noting that although Christmas may never feel the same again, love still finds its way to her, offering hope even in the midst of grief.
