BBNaija stars Leo DaSilva and Nina have joined the rising wave of complaints over the shocking cost of short-let apartments in Lagos this December, calling the prices unreasonable and exploitative.
Leo, in a series of posts shared on X, highlighted screenshots of apartment listings in Victoria Island and Ikoyi, accusing Lagos hosts of “overdoing things” this festive season. He noted that many property owners assume December bookings are guaranteed, only for hotels to eventually attract most guests and force them to slash their inflated prices.
According to him, nothing is “funnier” than the current prices of VI and Ikoyi apartments, some of which cost as much as $9,350 (over ₦14 million) for just 11 nights — with free cancellation and no prepayment. He insisted that these apartments are merely “okay places”, not luxury homes worth such extreme rates.
BBN’s Nina, who reposted Leo’s complaint on Instagram, also voiced her shock. She revealed that she recently paid ₦4.2 million for 13 nights at an Airbnb in Lekki, stressing that some hosts now charge up to ₦700,000 per night. She described the situation as “ridiculous”, saying Lagos hosts have “lost it completely” with their pricing.
Their reactions have intensified public debate about Lagos’ soaring holiday accommodation costs, with many Nigerians agreeing that the December short-let market has become excessively overpriced.
