“Whoever Recorded Him In His Final Moments Was Never His Friend” —Acteess Jennifer Paul Mourns Odira Nwobu
Nollywood actress Jennifer Paul has expressed deep sadness and strong condemnation following the circulation of a distressing video showing late actor Odira Nwobu in his final moments.
The clip, which revealed the actor in a vulnerable and nearly naked condition, has triggered widespread outrage across social media and within the film community.
Reacting through an emotional Instagram post, Jennifer Paul criticised the individual who filmed and shared the video, stressing that anyone capable of exposing a dying man in such a humiliating state “was never his friend.” She described the act as a violation of human dignity and an unacceptable form of cruelty at a time when compassion should have prevailed.
The actress used the moment to highlight the need for kindness, urging people to be mindful of how they treat others in their weakest hours. She noted that preserving a person’s dignity—both in life and in death—is a responsibility society must uphold, and she warned against normalising the public display of someone’s pain for attention.
In her caption, Jennifer Paul admitted she did not personally know Odira Nwobu but said she broke down in tears after seeing the viral footage. She encouraged her followers to take better care of themselves and to cherish people who choose to shield others during vulnerable moments.
Odira Nwobu, known for his roles in Nollywood comedic productions, is being mourned by fans and colleagues who continue to call for greater sensitivity and responsibility in handling the private struggles and final moments of individuals.
