Nkechi Blessing Shares Dating Encounter, Insists Men Must Offer Support In Talking Stage

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has shared details of a recent dating experience that left her questioning the effort some men put into talking stages. She made the revelation in a video posted on her Instagram page, where she addressed her followers directly.

Blessing explained that she had been communicating with a man based in the United Kingdom when she suddenly went quiet after a minor accident that damaged two of her car tyres. When he reached out to ask why she had been silent, she told him what happened and mentioned that she needed to replace the tyres.

According to her, instead of showing deeper concern or offering support, the man simply replied, “Sorry about that, babe. Hope you were not hurt,” before ending the conversation with a brief “ok.” Blessing said that while she is fully capable of fixing her car, she expected a man who claimed to be serious to at least ask, “How much is the tyre? Let me buy it for you,” as a sign of care and intention. She eventually fixed the tyres herself. Hours later, the man sent another message saying he had been in a long meeting and hoped she had sorted the issue. When she told him she had already bought new tyres, the conversation ended again.

The actress compared this with the behaviour of a male friend in Abuja, whom she described as a “perfect gentleman”. She noted that when she informed him about an upcoming gig in the city, he immediately told her to get a hotel so his team could pick her up the next day. When she offered to handle things herself, he insisted, “No, I got this.” Blessing said the gesture showed intentionality, not an attempt to impress.

She emphasised that although she values her independence, she still expects a man to show initiative, care, and willingness to step up when necessary. According to her, any man seeking a relationship should be capable of providing support when it truly matters.

Blessing concluded that if a man cannot demonstrate responsibility or effort, she has no interest in pursuing anything serious. She also revealed that she is currently single and “testing the waters” with multiple talking stages.
