Celebrity barman and socialite Cubana Chief Priest has stirred intense public conversation after accusing the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ben Kalu, of sending him a message at 7:08 a.m. and immediately deleting it.
In a detailed Instagram post, Cubana Chief Priest said he woke up shocked and unsettled after seeing the deleted messages. He admitted to being worried and shaken but stated that he remains fearless. According to him, the action heightened his concerns about the suffering of people in the Southeast and the alleged neglect from political leaders.
He lamented that he relocated from his hometown to Lagos due to the prolonged detention of MNK (Mazi Nnamdi Kanu), a situation he says contributed to the collapse of businesses and investments in the Southeast. He noted that during a recent visit home, he was confronted by widespread poverty and hardship among his people.
Cubana Chief Priest criticised Ben Kalu for allegedly failing to use his office effectively to restore peace and stability in the region. He argued that if he were in the Deputy Speaker’s position, he would unite Southeast governors, summon relevant ministers, engage regional elites, and push aggressively for peace.
He urged Ben Kalu to rise above party politics, focus on rescuing the region, and use his influence to secure the release of MNK (Mazi Nnamdi Kanu), whom he believes must return to address the issues he created. According to him, this is the only credible path to restoring peace.
The socialite described Ben Kalu as intelligent, polished, and capable, urging him to bring that same discipline and excellence into governance. He warned that time is running out and that the people will eventually hold leaders accountable for inaction.
Cubana Chief Priest stressed that Southeast indigenes deserve to travel home freely during festive seasons instead of staying away out of fear.
He concluded by saying his message was not an insult but a necessary wake-up call born out of love and concern.
His post has triggered widespread reactions across social media, with many Nigerians discussing the insecurity in the Southeast and the responsibilities of political leaders in addressing it.
