A Danish humanitarian, Anja Ringgren Lovén, has shared new before-and-after photos of a young girl who was allegedly accused of witchcraft, severely beaten, and abandoned on the streets of Akwa Ibom State.
The child, identified as Christiana, was found in a traumatised and malnourished state earlier this year after being rejected by members of her community. Lovén, founder of the Land of Hope Children’s Center, revealed that Christiana underwent months of medical treatment, psychological therapy, and rehabilitation to recover from the physical and emotional harm she endured.
According to Lovén, children who are branded as witches are often cast out by society and forced into street life, where many do not survive. She explained that Christiana’s recovery has been remarkable, noting that after eight months of intensive care, she has regained strength and recently started school.
The transformation photos posted on Lovén’s official Facebook page, @Anja Ringgren Lovén, show Christiana’s journey from distress and abandonment to recovery and hope. Lovén expressed gratitude to supporters of Land of Hope, stating that their continued contributions are helping save the lives of vulnerable children and give them a chance at a better future.
