There Was Really No $250m Investment Deal, Gov Okpebholo And His Aides Went To Scotland For Vacation -Isibor
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Organizing Secretary in Edo State, Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor, has revealed that his party, alongside some independent individuals, conducted an investigation into the alleged $250 million investment deal supposedly secured by the state government in Scotland.
Speaking in an interview with Arise News Television, Ifaluyi-Isibor disclosed that their findings showed the deal was fabricated. According to him, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and his aides merely went on a vacation to Scotland and later presented it as an investment mission to impress the people.
"There was really no $250m investment deal, Governor (Monday Okpebholo) and his aides actually went to Scotland for a vacation. In an attempt to impress the Edo State people, they came up with the idea to make up something to look like we went to actually work."
He further explained that, during their investigation, they contacted the number listed on the organization’s website, only to be answered by a woman based in Ibadan, in Nigeria’s South-West region. He argued that this was clear evidence that the deal was not genuine, contrary to the state government’s claims.
"We called the number on the website of the so-called organization and one lady from Ibadan or somewhere in the Southwest was speaking to us. Is that an organization who has the capacity to give 250 million dollars in investment, what were the terms and conditions. It would amaze you that several days after, not a comment has been made by the Governor or his aides. Are they afraid to confront the Edo people and tell us the truth?"
