Universal Pictures just broke the internet by giving fans a massive sneak peek into the highly anticipated second part of the movie, Wicked: For Good. And guess what? The film is pulling a major move by adding two completely original songs that were not in the original Broadway show!
This is a huge deal because it marks the first time the film adaptation, written and composed by the legendary Stephen Schwartz, has broken away from the original musical material. Get ready to be changed for good!
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Bring The Fire!
The two new tracks are set to feature the powerful voices of the movie's leads, and they sound like absolute bangers!
- Cynthia Erivo (playing Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West) will sing a new original song titled "No Place Like Home." This is a clear shout-out to Dorothy’s famous catchphrase from The Wizard of Oz!
- Ariana Grande (playing Glinda, the Good Witch) will debut her new original track, "The Girl in the Bubble."
Imagine the vocal runs and the drama! Early snippets suggest both are passionate, emotional ballads that will definitely give us goosebumps!
The Gist of Wicked: For Good
The movie series is based on the phenomenal Broadway hit, Wicked. Part 1 covered the first half of the musical and famously ended with Elphaba's show-stopping performance of "Defying Gravity."
Now, Wicked: For Good is coming to theaters on November 21st, and this part will feature all the dramatic showdowns we expect.
The newly released teaser clip, which was dropped to celebrate tickets going on sale, mashed up all the epic moments, including Jonathan Bailey's Fiyero singing the passionate "As Long as You're Mine," and both leads harmonizing on the title track, "For Good."
With these two new songs, the movie is promising to give fans a fresh, unforgettable experience that even long-time Broadway loyalists haven't seen coming.
We are ready for the magic, the scandal, and the powerful vocals!
