For those who don’t know, Ian Watkins was a superstar rock vocalist in the 2000s, selling millions of records worldwide with Lostprophets.

In 2013, he was sentenced to 29 years for some of the most depraved child sex offences imaginable, including the attempted rape of a baby. The details were so dark, his own band broke up instantly.

It appears death had been knocking on Watkins' door for a while.


HMP Wakefield is known for housing some of the UK’s most notorious criminals. This latest attack was not the first time Watkins had been assaulted.


In 2023, he was reportedly taken hostage by three inmates for a terrifying six hours and was also stabbed, although he survived that incident. Reports even suggested he was constantly paying other inmates for protection.


Sadly for him, whatever protection arrangement he had in place failed spectacularly this time. The full weight of his past finally caught up with him inside the walls of the "Monster Mansion."
