Fr Kelvin Ugwu Describes Ned Nwoko And Regina Daniels’ Union As A Deliberate Transactional Arrangement
Catholic priest and social commentator Fr Kelvin Ugwu, in a detailed post shared on his verified Facebook page @FrKelvinUgwu, has reacted to the public tension surrounding billionaire politician Senator Ned Nwoko and Nollywood actress Regina Daniels. Fr Ugwu described their relationship as a mutual transaction driven by personal desires, rather than a genuine marital union.
In his post titled “Between Elder Ned and Baby Gina”, Fr Ugwu stated that Ned is focused on marrying only virgins, while Regina has openly shown interest in wealth and luxury. He explained that each party entered the relationship to fulfil these desires—Ned seeking purity to satisfy his traditional beliefs, and Regina seeking financial prosperity and high social status.
According to Fr Ugwu, both individuals got exactly what they wanted, and their relationship mirrored a contractual arrangement rather than a sacred marriage. He noted that the current disputes between them stem from trying to label a transactional partnership as marriage. Fr Ugwu wrote, “What Gina and Ned had or still have is not marriage. It resembles it, but resemblance does not make it so. Marriage is not built on wealth or virginity, but on total self-giving, sacrifice, and lifelong commitment.”
He further compared such relationships to arrangements seen in foreign countries where individuals exchange citizenship for money under the guise of marriage, stating that legality does not equate to authenticity.
Fr Ugwu emphasised that true marriage involves emotional dedication, responsibility, and mutual respect—qualities he believes were not the foundation of Ned and Regina’s union.
His post on @FrKelvinUgwu has generated wide reactions as social media users continue to debate the nature of the couple’s relationship and the broader issue of transactional marriages in society.
