Omo, the ASUU strike tension has been too much! Every Nigerian student and parent is tired of seeing lecture halls locked. But guess what? A major political force has just weighed in, and their message is crystal clear: End the drama, embrace dialogue!
The Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) has stepped into the ring. This group of top APC Governors just held a massive two-day meeting, and the main agenda point that shook the internet was their direct appeal to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
They are not mincing words.
The Governors Drop the Gbas Gbos
In a serious communiqué issued after their gathering, the PGF, led by the distinguished Chairman and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, made a huge plea.
The message is simple: Stop the back-and-forth. ASUU, forget the industrial action for a minute and come to the table. Let’s talk with the Federal Government and fix these issues once and for all.
It’s all about peaceful engagement, people!
Why This Urgency? The Students Factor
Governor Uzodimma and his colleagues didn't just ask nicely; they appealed to ASUU's conscience. They urged the union to look beyond their grievances and consider the future of Nigerian students and the nation itself.
Think about it: careers are delayed, semesters are lost, and the nation’s academic calendar is in serious jeopardy. This appeal is a stark reminder that the future of our young people should be the priority for everyone involved!
This is a serious call for patriotic compromise.
Beyond ASUU: Uzodimma’s Power Talk
But the governors’ meeting wasn’t only about the ASUU palaver. They also confirmed their commitment to several key national goals that affect your daily life.
They are looking to diversify our economy and promote massive rural development across their states. They also pledged full support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government to expand domestic production, especially when it comes to Food Security.
Plus, they threw serious accolades at President Tinubu, noting that his administration is already recording significant progress in economic recovery and national security. They even claimed that inflation is reportedly declining!
Finally, the PGF reaffirmed their support for community policing and welcomed the new APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda. It seems there is now a "greater understanding" between the Federal and State Governments—a partnership they swore to sustain!
Now, tell us your thoughts! Do you think ASUU will listen to the Progressive Governors' plea for dialogue? Should the strike end now? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
