In a powerful gesture of compassion and respect, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has donated a whopping ₦100 million to support families of wounded soldiers and those who lost their lives in the fight against insurgency.
The announcement was made during a special lunch organized by the military for wounded personnel and the next-of-kin of fallen heroes in Maiduguri.
Backbone of Our Security
Governor Zulum, known for his hands-on leadership, praised the bravery and sacrifices of Nigerian troops, saying their efforts are the reason citizens can sleep with both eyes closed.
“Our gallant soldiers have paid the ultimate price defending the nation,” Zulum said. “This support is just a small way of saying thank you and letting their families know they are not forgotten.”
Support Breakdown
Out of the ₦100 million, ₦80 million will go directly to families of soldiers who lost their lives, while ₦20 million is set aside for wounded soldiers currently undergoing treatment.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, expressed deep appreciation to the governor, saying the gesture would lift the morale of troops and strengthen military-civilian relationships in Borno.
