Nkechi Blessing Opens Up: Never Been With A Man Richer Than Me

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday recently spoke openly about her dating history and it’s got people talking. During a podcast appearance, the 36‑year‑old actress revealed that she has never been in a relationship with a man wealthier than herself.

She even admitted she has “dated down” three times before but says she won’t do it again. According to her, this isn’t about being materialistic; instead, it’s about self‑respect and financial peace.

> “I’ve never dated someone who has more money than I do. I’ve dated down three times, and I’m not doing that anymore.” she said.
> “I am not materialistic, but I’ve learned to prioritize my financial peace. That’s why I can’t go back to dating down.”

Nkechi also discussed her relationship with her younger partner, Xxssive, which started in 2021. The pair often shared their romance on social media, but rumors of a breakup flew after they unfollowed each other on Instagram—and Nkechi later confirmed they had split.

Before Xxssive, she was married to Ekiti politician Opeyemi Falegan—the marriage ended in 2022 after months of public drama and scrutiny.

Even though many criticize her for being with younger partners, Nkechi Blessing says she’s not bothered by others’ opinions. Her stance is firm: choosing relationships that don’t compromise her sense of financial stability or peace.

Why This Resonates
  • Many people understand the pressure of being in a relationship where financial balance isn’t there. Nkechi’s honesty on this issue is refreshing.
  • Her story touches on something important: valuing oneself not just emotionally, but financially too.
  • It also shows a shift—more people are willing to speak openly about priorities and boundaries in relationships.
