Fear Grips Edikwu Ankpali After Brutal Attack


In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves through Benue State, armed herdsmen launched a deadly assault on Edikwu Ankpali, a community in Apa Local Government Area. Human rights activist Meddy Olotu reported that numerous lives were lost during the attack. 


A Disturbing Phone Call


Olotu recounted a harrowing episode during an interview with News Central TV. He revealed that a friend of one of the victims attempted to call the deceased's phone, only for an armed herdsman to answer. The assailant brazenly informed the caller that his friend was dead and provocatively challenged him, saying: 


 "Your friend is dead. If you have the mind, if you have the AK-47, come. We are still around Edikwu Ankpali." 




Growing Boldness of Attackers


This audacious act underscores the increasing boldness of armed herdsmen in the region. Olotu emphasized that these attackers no longer flee after their assaults but instead remain in the area, instilling fear among residents. He called for immediate intervention to halt the violence and safeguard the community.

The residents of Edikwu Ankpali are living in fear, with many urging authorities to take swift and decisive action. The need for enhanced security measures and protection for vulnerable communities has never been more pressing.
