Tiwa Savage Opens Up: Some Men Fled After Learning My Real Ag

Award-winning Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has shared how her age has sometimes scared off men who claimed to love her—only to retreat after discovering she’s older than them.

In a recent appearance on the “Women of Valour” event hosted by Ghanaian media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah, the Afrobeats star opened up about her personal journey, touching on how age and societal expectations have affected her relationships.

“They said they loved me... until they heard my age”

Speaking candidly, Tiwa revealed that she once found herself in love with a man who seemed to genuinely care for her. But everything changed when he found out her actual age.

“I’ve been in situations where someone said they loved me but later told me, ‘You're amazing, but I can’t handle the fact that you’re older than me,’” she recounted.

Society’s pressure on women

The 44-year-old singer reflected on how society often puts pressure on women, especially when it comes to age and marriage. She mentioned that people still hold on to the idea that women should marry before a certain age or keep their age hidden to stay desirable.

Tiwa also addressed the unfair double standards, noting how society often celebrates older men dating younger women, while criticizing older women in similar situations.

Being a mother and a star

Tiwa Savage, who is also a mother, spoke about balancing motherhood with her career in the spotlight. Despite the challenges, she said she's proud of the woman she’s become and wants other women to embrace their age and journey without shame.

“I’m not ashamed of my age. I’ve earned every year,” she declared, encouraging other women to own their stories, no matter what society thinks.
