Tinubu Has Done More in 2 Years Than Others Did in 8 — Minister Declares

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated that President Bola Tinubu's administration has achieved more in its first two years than previous governments. He made this assertion during the inaugural national dialogue on citizen engagement and national security organized by the Voice of Nigeria in Abuja.

Key Achievements Highlighted

Minister Idris emphasized several significant accomplishments of the Tinubu administration:

Economic Reforms: The removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of foreign exchange rates have been pivotal in stabilizing the economy.

Infrastructure Development: There has been substantial progress in road infrastructure projects across the country.

Education Initiatives: The introduction of an unprecedented student loan scheme aims to make higher education more accessible to Nigerian youths.

Financial Inclusion: The establishment of CreditCorp is designed to stimulate confidence among the younger population by providing better access to credit facilities.

Progress Amid Challenges

Acknowledging the initial challenges faced, Idris noted that the administration's policies are beginning to yield positive results:

Food Prices: There has been a noticeable decline in food prices, offering relief to many Nigerians.

Security: Efforts to combat insecurity are showing progress, with improved safety in various regions.

Governance: The impact of governance is becoming more evident through initiatives like local government autonomy and the creation of ministries focused on regional development.

Emphasis on Trust and Unity

Minister Idris highlighted the importance of trust between the government and citizens, stating that national security is deeply rooted in national unity. He asserted that trust is a more potent tool than force in achieving lasting security and cohesion.

He also commended the Voice of Nigeria for its role in promoting national identity and cohesion, urging stakeholders to move beyond dialogue and commit to actions that strengthen public trust and accountability.
